Spyke

Hi, I’m Spyke.

I’m a librarian by profession and a Marine by way of life. I come from a big family, and these days my life has grown to include partners, friends, and creatures I love. My partners are my partners because we help each other grow. We’re building lives alongside one another, not standing still.

I’m getting older, too, and I’ve found a certain freedom in it. I’m less interested in deciding what kind of person I’m supposed to be and more interested in discovering what catches my attention. I love music. I can disappear into a nonfiction subject for months. I care about my home and what I wear. I play video games, take pictures, make things, experiment, and occasionally decide I should learn something improbable.

I’m curious about the world and about the people in it. I like learning how things work, but just as much, I like noticing what they mean once they become part of a life.

Spyke.space is my digital notebook. It’s where some of that life leaves a trace: things I’ve written, music I’m playing, things I’ve noticed or made, and whatever else I stopped long enough to catch.

I live in Texas, thoroughly landlocked, though some part of me remains convinced I should be learning to surf somewhere on the Pacific.
